Freddy Cortez, Founder and President
The organization was founded August 14, 2009, by Freddy Cortez. Freddy has a Masters Degree in Public Administration from Western International University, and a Bachelors Degree in Management from Texas Tech University. Freddy has more than 13 years of combined Human Resources experience along with operations experience with nonprofits.
Freddy remembers wanting to volunteer his time to a worthy cause but found that he needed to figure out what cause was worth his time. He also needed to decide how much time he was willing to commit. Next he had to get in contact that philanthropy to see what the process was to become a volunteer.
That is when Freddy came up with the concept of Volunteer Arizona Live. VAL creates a single location where volunteers can sign up to be a volunteer. This single location would also provide information about different organizations that needed volunteers for special functions or events. The organizations volunteer opportunities change regularly which adds variety to the volunteer process and keeps it interesting, fun and allows for many organizations to benefit.
